The last car I bought, I really needed a good drivers seat as I was having back problems, and that was the only reason I was looking to change cars. If I got into a car and found my back was pulled, I did not consider it an option.
I have changed to automatics since needing knee surgery.
Price and operating cost including repairs I have always considered.
I am always amazed when a sales person asks as a first question what color of vehicle I am looking for, what does that have to do with choosing a car. I just assume that I can get the car I want and decide on color after looking at what is available.

Wouldn't buy another new vehicle, to much B/S when going after warranty work, plus depreciates to rapidly and most are over priced.

When shopping for a new vehicle, I look most at:
#1 - If the company producing it is located in the USA. #2 - If the car is assembled in the USA. #3 - Make sure the engine and transmission are assembled in the USA. #4 - What is the North American Parts content #5 - If it is assembled in Michigan. #6 - Needs to be GM or Ford.
Support your own State, Country, and Future.

Well, they ask what people look MOST at. It's still silly, since people tend to look at a lot of things equally.

When it comes down to it, the only consideration that has minimal impact on my decision is "Seller Reputation/Location/Convenience". I have to weigh all the other factors in equally. I came up with my R.E.S.C.U. plan years ago when shopping for used cars and it applies equally well with new car purchases. RESCU(E) stands for RELIABILITY, ECONOMY, SAFETY, CAPACITY (in regard to number of passengers it can carry) and USEFUL-LIFE (how many more years can you expect to get out of this vehicle if properly maintained?

I always look for reliability. What's the point of buying a vehicle that is cheap to operate but will fail you in a short period of time?
